Year 7 Enterprise Day sees pupils brainstorming bag designs

Uni of Worcester trainee teachers

Hereford Cathedral School Year 7 pupils put their business brains to work yesterday, in an Enterprise Day organised by a group of trainee teachers from the University of Worcester.

The PGCE students challenged our teams to come up with a bag design, and encouraged the pupils to think about material choice, size, costings, sustainability, profit margins and more. The pupils had to also come up with a brand name, logo, and plan how they would promote and sell their product.

The Library was a-buzz with activity as the Year 7 pupils worked in teams to come up with their unique and eye-catching designs. After brainstorming, the groups presented their finished products to the rest of the group. The final bag designs were judged by our guests from the University of Worcester on creativity, cohesion and finance.

Yvonne Cashmore, Lead Mentor at the University of Worcester, commented: "It was a delight to work with Year 7 students for their Enterprise Day. Their team challenge to design a bag, considering all aspects of the marketing mix, was approached with enthusiasm and creativity. Sales pitches were well thought through, rehearsed, and presented in a positive and professional style to share the key design features, including sustainability and unique selling points of their bag."

Congratulations to Team 10, whose excellent design was picked as the overall winner!
