We offer a sector-leading and holistic academic experience that prepares our Sixth Form students for the challenges and opportunities of the real world.

Our wide-ranging curriculum ensures you have access to a broad suite of subjects, enabling you to pursue your passions and interests, while our digital strategy, HCS Diploma, and focus on super-curricular enrichment will deliver the support you need in developing essential skills for your future endeavours.

Diverse and flexible choices

Our Sixth Form curriculum is designed to allow students to choose from a wide range of subjects and many possible combinations. With options ranging from Maths, English and the Sciences to Modern Foreign Languages, Music, Drama and Classics, you will have the flexibility to tailor your education to suit your individual aspirations and career goals.

In addition to our A-Level offerings, we also provide alternative pathways for students wishing to study BTEC qualifications. Our BTEC Sport and BTEC Enterprise & Entrepreneurship courses offer practical, hands-on learning experiences that equip students with valuable skills and knowledge relevant to their chosen industries.

Our students consistently achieve outstanding results, going on to the very best in higher education, including Oxford, Cambridge and other renowned Russell Group universities, as well as leading universities worldwide. Others opt for degree apprenticeships, demonstrating the breadth of opportunities available to them beyond school. Whatever path you choose, you will be fully supported by our Futures Department, with tailored guidance and resources to ensure you reach your potential.

SIXTH FORM SUBJECT OPTIONS

Academic Enrichment

In addition to their A-Level studies, we offer students a wide range of academic enrichment opportunities to inspire curiosity, stimulate intellectual growth, and foster a love of learning.

You can choose to complement your studies with an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), an independent research project designed to allow you to engage with a subject about which you are passionate. Supported by our expert team, you will develop exceptional research and project management skills, and enhance your university applications, while extending your knowledge beyond your A-Level or BTEC subjects.

Through the HCS Diploma, Sixth Form students are encouraged to explore super-curricular interests through extended reading lists, podcasts, MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses), and a diverse programme of external speakers. From local Members of Parliament to esteemed diplomats, students have the opportunity to engage with influential figures and gain valuable insights.

Our extensive programme of clubs and activities continue into Sixth Form, providing the opportunity to explore new interests, connect with like-minded peers or even take on a leadership role.

BECOMING REAL-WORLD READY

As part of our Digital Strategy, students attend lessons with their own personal devices, enabling them to access a far greater range of digital resources to enhance their learning and improve their digital literacy. You’ll become adept at using applications that are commonplace in higher education and the workplace beyond, helping you to stand out in a competitive marketplace.

Support & challenge

As you work towards achieving your crucial A-Level or BTEC qualifications, it is vital that we provide the necessary stretch and challenge to ensure you reach your fullest potential. Our small class sizes and dedicated teachers allow us to provide tailored guidance and regular assessment ensuring students stay on track to achieving the grades to which they aspire.

For those needing extra help, our Learning Skills Department provides personalised support and essential resources. Recognising the unique value of each student, we urge parents to share any special educational needs as soon as possible. Our Admissions team works closely with us to ensure we are able to support each student joining the HCS family.

Students can be referred to Learning Support by their teachers or may seek help independently at any point during their time with us. We work with them and their families to determine the necessary levels of support, including considerations for any special exam accommodations.
