Hereford Cathedral School pupils have been paying tribute to the nation’s fallen in the School’s Remembrance events.

Over 150 singers from six of Hereford Cathedral School’s choirs took part in the annual Words & Music for Remembrance in Hereford Cathedral on Thursday.

The event featured all of Year 7 as Junior Choir, who performed with great confidence. Alongside wartime readings, the choirs gave moving performances of music by David Briggs, Bob Chilcott, Maurice Duruflé, Robert Pearsall, Philip Stopford and more. The event opened with the Senior Strings, whose opening performance of Giazotto’s Adagio for Strings and Organ, featuring Sixth Formers Jack S on organ and Sofia VW on solo violin, created a suitably reflective atmosphere.

A highlight of this special evening was a performance of Karl Jenkins’ poignant Benedictus, featuring exquisite solo cello playing from Neirin O. All those who took part in this special evening should be congratulated.

Friday’s School Remembrance Service was an opportunity for pupils and staff to reflect on those lost in conflict.

On Remembrance Sunday, Hereford Cathedral School cadets marched through the city centre in the Remembrance Parade, in a poignant tribute the all those who have fallen in war. All our cadets represented the School impeccably.
