Pupils prepare for battles and banquets in Macbeth at The Courtyard

Macbeth

Hereford Cathedral School performers are today preparing to take to The Courtyard stage for the much-anticipated first night of Macbeth.

Back in September, HCS Head of English, Mr Abbott, announced his plan to stage a three-night run of Shakespeare's 'Scottish Play’, and tonight, months of hard work in rehearsals come to fruition.

Macbeth will run from 2-4 February, with evening performances each night at 7.30pm, and a matinee performance for Herefordshire primary schools on Thursday 3 February.

A cast of 50 pupils from Years 10-13 are now in the final stages of preparation for curtain-up. With a prop list that includes two severed heads, an arsenal of swords and shields, and a ready supply of fake blood, Macbeth promises to be a heady mix of ambition and evil.

Headmaster Dr Gray commented: "Everyone involved with Macbeth has worked with such tremendous enthusiasm and energy in getting these performances ready and the whole School community is really excited about it. I know that the pupils will do such a fantastic job and we wish them every success!"

A few tickets are still available from the Courtyard Box Office on 01432 340555.
