Six local schools came together to participate in yesterday’s Herefordshire Schools Advent Carol Service at Hereford Cathedral. The event featured performances by Gorsley Goffs Primary School, Lea Church of England Primary School, Holmer Church of England Academy, St James Church of England Primary School, Bishop Hooper Church of England Primary School, and the Hereford Cathedral Junior School Choir.
The programme featured readings by pupils from the guest schools and included much-loved hymns such as Once in Royal David’s City, O Little Town of Bethlehem, and Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.
Mr Duncan Barlow, Director of Music at Hereford Cathedral School, commented: “It was truly special to witness over 250 young voices united in song within the magnificent setting of Hereford Cathedral as we celebrated the beginning of Advent. The energy and dedication from all the singers were remarkable, creating a beautiful and memorable sound. A huge well done to all the schools for their performances, including those who contributed their own individual pieces, and heartfelt thanks to the teachers and headteachers for their incredible support in making this community event a success.”
We hope everyone who attended enjoyed this spectacular celebration of music and community!
