Hereford Cathedral School pupils showcased an impressive production of Joel Horwood’s gritty play, This Changes Everything, at the Powell Theatre last week.
The play tells the story of a group of young people who have mysteriously disappeared. On a platform out at sea, they have formed The Community – a new type of society and a better way of living.
The ambitious project featured two casts, each guided by a different director: Mr Martin, Director of Drama at HCS, and Mrs Price.
The production demonstrated the talents and dedication of both the students and their directors. Mr Martin expressed his pride and satisfaction with the outcome: “The production has been a real triumph. It’s been wonderful to see our younger pupils grappling with the dense, complex nature of this play of ideas, and more than rising to the challenge. It has been fascinating to see how two different casts, and two different directors, have approached the material in quite radically different ways. The future of Drama at HCS is looking very bright indeed!”
This Changes Everything, known for its intricate narrative and thought-provoking themes, provided a challenging yet rewarding experience for the young actors.
Well done to all of our Year 8 & 9 performers on an impressive production.
