Eight cadets from Hereford Cathedral School CCF’s RAF Section travelled to No 8 Air Experience Flight at RAF Cosford recently. They set out early on a morning which was bright, clear and still, ideal for flying once the early mist had burned off.

After the inevitable checking of forms, briefing and safety training, the cadets were kitted with their flying suits, helmets, sunglasses and later parachutes and walked out the aircraft which were warming engines. Over the course of the day, all 8 cadets flew for 25 minutes with a set of very experienced instructors.

They enjoyed some fine views of Bridgnorth and the Shropshire and Welsh countryside, and most cadets opted for aerobatics – flying their own loops, rolls and stall turns. All walked back from their aircraft with huge grins and settled down to watch Top Gun!
