On Monday 19 June, to mark the start of Armed Forces Week, Headmaster Dr Michael Gray, signed the Armed Forces Covenant on behalf of Hereford Cathedral School, alongside Col. Andy Taylor OBE, DL, on behalf of the Ministry of Defence.
The Covenant was witnessed by a number of key personnel, including the Lord Lieutenant of Herefordshire, Edward Harley, as His Majesty’s representative.
In signing the Covenant, Hereford Cathedral School recognises the value serving personnel, both regular and reservists, veterans and military families contribute to our business and country. It also commits the School to supporting the armed forces in a variety of different ways.
Dr Gray said: “It is a real privilege to sign-up to the Armed Forces Covenant. Our military personnel fulfil the primary obligation of Government which is the defence of the realm; their service, commitment and sacrifice means that they deserve our respect, support and fair treatment. Herefordshire knows better than most places the tireless efforts of those who serve our nation and we wish to express our recognition of their work through the signing and upholding of this Covenant.”
