Hereford Cathedral Junior School pupils have been celebrating the joy of reading as part of their World Book Day celebrations today.

In preparation for the day, each form has dressed their form room door in the theme of a chosen book, with a prize for the best entry. Every form went to a huge effort to make their door stand out. Among the entries were 4W’s How to Train Your Dragon door, Reception’s Three Little Pigs-themed door, and 3D’s door, which was dedicated to David Walliams’ Demon Dentist.

Even the staff got involved, with Housekeeper Mrs Wainwright dedicating her door to The Cat in the Hat, while Mrs Seden crafted a spectacular scene from The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch.

Meanwhile, pupils across the school fashioned their favourite book characters from potatoes, which were on display in the library. There were some really impressive efforts, ranging from Willy Wonka to Paddington Bear.
