Hereford Cathedral Junior School pupils and their families gathered in the Cathedral yesterday for a very special Harvest Festival service.
There was a programme of beautiful music, put together by Miss Toolan. Year 3 & 4 sang Everywhere Around Me beautifully, followed by a wonderful performance of Harvest Time by Reception, Year 1 & 2. Finally, Year 5 & 6 sang The Lord’s Prayer from African Sanctus (see video below).
HCJS Headteacher, Mrs Hoffmann, urged the congregation to give thanks to food producers, both near and far, who work hard all year round to grow food for us to eat, in the face of all the challenges of climate change.
Head Boy & Head Girl, Toby M and Francesca N, ably delivered a prayer, and House Captains Harriet M, Anna D, Jacob E, Eliza M read Psalm 65 verses 9-13.
The School Chef, Mr Prosser, made a beautiful decorative harvest loaf, which was the centrepiece for the harvest display table, and was a tangible reminder of our connection to the land.
Many thanks to parents for all of the generous food donations, which will be delivered to Hereford Food Bank.
