As a registered charity (number 518889), Hereford Cathedral School is not only committed to offering a world-class education and opportunities to our pupils, but to supporting and engaging with the wider community.
Throughout the academic year, we share our resources, facilities and staff with local primary, prep and secondary schools, through a wide variety of activities including music concerts, sports tournaments, maths competitions, science classes and classics workshops. Our Music Makers programme includes opportunities for children and adults alike:
Meanwhile, our student-led Charities Committee sit at the heart of our charitable giving, organising a year-round programme of events that range from sponsored runs and cake sales to concerts and fashion shows.
HCS has a special connection with The Little Princess Trust, which was founded in the School in 2006 by the parents of Junior School student Hannah Tarplee, and now provides real-hair wigs to sick children across the UK and Ireland. We continue to support this important cause with our most recent donation of £3,300 to the charity thanks to a ‘Sustainable Fashion is the Future’ fashion show, led by one of our Year 12 students.
Other recent beneficiaries have included BBC Children in Need, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Cancer Research UK, Comic Relief, Concern Universal, Help For Heroes, Martha Trust Hereford, Parkinson’s UK, The Haven Hereford, The Music Pool Herefordshire, The 737 Challenge and The Royal British Legion.
