Hereford music lovers were treated to a night of vocal brilliance on Thursday as renowned vocal ensemble Apollo5 took to the stage alongside choirs from Hereford Cathedral School for a captivating concert at Holy Trinity Church.
The evening showcased the versatility of Apollo5, one of the country’s leading vocal groups, as they performed a programme spanning jazz, pop, classical and early sacred music. They performed moving renditions of And So It Goes by Billy Joel and Your Song by Elton John, while their interpretation of traditional and contemporary choral works demonstrated their remarkable vocal artistry.
Adding to the magic of the night were performances from the school’s talented choirs—Colla Voce, Senior Chamber Choir and Cantabile Girls’ Choir—who each delivered stunning sets. From the haunting harmonies of Ave Maria and Crucifixus to the uplifting energy of Seasons of Love and Carrickfergus, the choirs showcased their musical depth.
The concert followed an afternoon of workshops led by Apollo5, where young singers from across the region had the opportunity to refine their skills and learn from the acclaimed ensemble.
The event, organised as part of Hereford Cathedral School’s Music Makers programme, was a true celebration of vocal music, bringing together singers of all ages and abilities for a performance that will be remembered for years to come.
