Hereford Cathedral School won the Herefordshire round of the English-Speaking Union‘s Public Speaking Competition last week.
Congratulations to Harriet R (Best Chairperson), Helena T (Best Speaker) and George H (Questioner).
HCS Head of English Mr Abbott said: “Harriet was a very welcoming and gracious host and Helena gave an impassioned speech on the subject of whether there should be more or less religion in the world. George asked some insightful questions of the opposition team and the judges, who included a retired judge, the Archdeacon of Hereford and an ex deputy-headteacher, praised the team for their high standards and confidence.”
The organiser, Sir Colin Shepherd, expressed his sincere thanks for the School’s hosting of the event. The HCS team will go on to the regional final in Oxfordshire in March.
