Well done to Hereford Cathedral School’s senior quiz team who took part in the national final of the Schools Challenge general knowledge competition in London.
The competition involves many schools from across the country, both independent and maintained.
HCS has an impressive reputation in this competition and the school has progressed to the final in most of the past 10 years. There were eight teams in the final including The Perse School, Westminster School, Lancaster Grammar and Abbey Grammar School.
The HCS team of Elliot T, James K, Holly S and Daniel P was drawn in the more challenging half of the draw including The Perse and Westminster School, who went on to win the plate competition and the overall title respectively.
HCS is, however, very lucky to have depth of quizzing in the school and so despite three of our four main participants being unavailable that weekend due to other school commitments, we were able to field a very competitive team.
Many thanks to all who supported the team; this is another example of HCS competing in a national forum.
