Sixth Form is a time when all your years of hard work come together as you prepare for the examinations which will help you move on to the next life stage. While we ensure you have the independence you need to manage and balance your own workload alongside your other pursuits, we also understand how important it is for you to have a strong support network in place at a time that can be exciting and challenging in equal measure.
If you’ve been with us throughout Senior School, moving up to Sixth Form will feel seamless. We know your story and understand your learning style, your strengths and your challenges. You will enter this new chapter of your education feeling confident that you will have the support you need in these final two years. For new students joining us in Sixth Form – and many do – we dedicate time to getting to know you quickly, ensuring your transition from your school is smooth and easy. We ensure you have the support you need to settle in and thrive right from day one.
Alongside Mrs Teale, our Assistant Head with responsibility for the Sixth Form, we have a team of Form Tutors, Assistant Heads of Year 12 & 13, and boarding staff, who are all there to ensure you feel safe, happy and able to thrive academically during your time with us.
Who will support me?

We also have two School Nurses and an in-School Counsellor, and our teachers have an open-door policy. Students feel comfortable seeking guidance and support from their teachers whenever needed. This approach promotes a supportive and collaborative learning environment where every student feels valued and respected.
A holistic education
PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic) education and RSE (Relationships and Sex Education) are an integral part of the Sixth Form experience, fostering personal growth and development beyond academic pursuits. Through a comprehensive curriculum, students explore topics such as mental health, relationships, financial literacy, and citizenship. These lessons equip our Sixth Formers with the knowledge, skills, and resilience needed to navigate life’s challenges confidently.
Moments of mindfulness
Well-being Wednesdays and Chapels in the Cathedral remain important times for us to come together to reflect and focus on our well-being. Through weekly discussions, activities and mindfulness exercises, students reflect on their mental and emotional health, while Chapel offers a sanctuary to pause and gather thoughts for the day ahead.
Futures coaching
The Futures Department is dedicated to supporting students as they plan for their life beyond school. Through personalised one-to-one coaching and mentoring sessions, you will receive guidance on higher education options, career pathways, and personal development goals, empowering you to make informed decisions about your future.
Forging lifelong bonds
Sixth Form life is not just about academics; it’s also about building lasting friendships and enjoying a vibrant social scene. From lunchtimes in the dedicated Sixth Form Café to extra-curricular clubs and societies, and regular social events organised by our Soc Com, you will have ample opportunity to connect with peers, forge new friendships, and create cherished memories that will last a lifetime.
