Having fought their way through the early rounds of the competition, the Hereford Cathedral School ‘Mace’ debating team of Quinn P, Ed M and Ioan O won the regional finals at the start of March and progressed through to National Finals Day in London on 28 March. As such, they were placed in the top 12 of 300 schools to enter the competition this year – a stunning achievement.
In their debate in London the trio of Sixth Formers opposed building homes on the green belt, but eventually lost to the team who ultimately became England champions.
Quinn, Ed and Ioan represented HCS brilliantly and enjoyed a great day at the English-Speaking Union’s headquarters in London – an amazing opportunity.
Many thanks to our splendid debaters for all their hard work and congratulations on this great achievement.
