Donations fund new 3D printers for the DT Department

Hereford Cathedral School pupils can now see their designs taking shape before their very eyes thanks to the recent delivery of five new 3D printers.
The purchase was made possible thanks to two generous donations: one from the PTA and one from Leominster-based construction company Border Oak, as part of its ‘40 Good Deeds’ project, which celebrates the firm’s 40th year in business.
The four Ender 3 Pros and one Ender 5 Plus Machine work by selectively depositing melted Bio-plastic layer by layer. The material used is a renewable thermoplastic polymer and comes in a filament form. The HCS DT Department will be using the 3D printers for a variety of projects across all year groups, and in GCSE and A-Level prototype design development.
Head of DT Mr Howells commented: “It has been a difficult year for all pupils and staff in HCS and these printers will make a tremendous impact on the students learning and motivation. I am extremely grateful to Border Oak and the school's PTA for purchasing the machines.”
