ICT/Computing

Computing is an important subject within the Junior School curriculum. It facilitates the development of further computing skills, knowledge, understanding and learning opportunities across the whole school curriculum.

The core of computing is computer science, in which pupils are taught the principles of information and computation, how digital systems work and how to put this knowledge to use through programming. Building on this knowledge and understanding, pupils are equipped to use information technology to create programs, systems and a range of content. Computing also ensures that pupils become digitally literate, that is, able to use and to express themselves and develop their ideas through information and communication technology, at a level suitable for the future workplace and as active participants in a digital world.

We have two fully equipped computer suites, one a dedicated classroom for the teaching of computing and the other for the teaching of cross-curricular subjects through computing. There is also a set of Google Chromebooks and iPads for use across the school.

All teaching classrooms have an Interactive Whiteboard and Computer.

Co-curricular

There are a number of after school computing clubs along with the Photography Club which is also based in one of the computing rooms.

Pre-Prep and Year 3 to Year 6

In Years 3 to 6, pupils have two Computing lessons per week while in Years 1 and 2 they have one lesson per week.
